Quick Spring Fresh-Up(date): I have achieved a goal! All of the closets in the house are CLEAN! Clean, I tell ya! We scraped them right out. We created about 10 bags of stuff to sell - clothes, shoes, belts, toys - and now our closets feel bright and airy again.
If you're looking for some closet-cleaning steps, I found this how-to at The Homemakers Post very helpful. I love the point about completely airing it out, and will be doing this after the Bedroom Deco is finished (there's no point in airing it out before painting it!)
Our biggest struggle was the shoe closet.
Although I didn't realize it, I'm kind of a shoe-hoarder. I have a shoe for every occasion, and embarassingly, none of them are super cute - they're all super practical.
Our utility closet is narrow, so there's no room for a shoe rack or a shoe shelf or a shoe anything. So John and I devised a less-than-glamorous plan to have the shoes easily accessible: nails!

| Get a load of that wallpaper. Oh, the perks of living in a 150-year-old house: 70's wallpaper sticks around... forever. |
Now I'm going to go stare at how awesomely clean my closets are.
'Cause that's what I do.
