Promises of Deliverance: The Season of Advent Begins
“Then I will pour out a spirit of
grace and prayer on the family of David and on the people of Jerusalem. They
will look on me whom they have pierced and mourn for him as for an only son.
They will grieve bitterly for him as for a firstborn son who has died. (13)"
“On that day a fountain will be
opened for the dynasty of David and for the people of Jerusalem, a fountain to
cleanse them from all their sins and impurity. (14)"
All right then, the Lord himself will
give you the sign. Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth
to a son and will call him Immanuel (which means ‘God is with us’) (15).
Nevertheless, that time of darkness
and despair will not go on forever. The land of Zebulun and Naphtali will be
humbled, but there will be a time in the future when Galilee of the Gentiles,
which lies along the road that runs between the Jordan and the sea, will be
filled with glory (16).
