I Dream of Jogging

Yes. This IS actually a post about jogging strollers. I've crossed to the dark-side. I'm 32 weeks pregnant and, gazing loathingly at my fat-chance-pants pile for post-pregnancy is making me feel the need to string up some amazing exercise plan already. It also helps that my best friend is going to lose 25 "fat pounds" (whatever that means) along with her family, in front of the entire nation, between January and July of 2012... so if I wasn't inspired and ready to rumble before, Stacey, you have fueled the fire.

I'm due in late March or early April, so when the time is right to start moving out of pyjamas and into running shoes  (May / June?), the weather should actually be appropriate for me to be excuse-less.

In comes... the jogging stroller. Early summer of 2011, I started a jogging routine that I actually kept up for as many weeks as I could until I found out I was pregnant (and for some reason developed this insane and illegitimate fear of hurting the baby while running, so I moved to swimming).

So I know I can do it. I can run. Of course I can. With the right shoes, and the right jogging bra, I am unstoppable.

Well, I'm less stoppable than I would be if I were walking, because you probably couldn't catch up to me! Unless you're super fit! Then stop reading and judging me!

So I have no excuse for not jogging this summer. (I have a note on my calendar to go back and read this blog, post-baby - point and laugh now, future Sam! You are stuck because you made it a public blog and now you must do this! At least you have a baby!)

Especially if I have this sweet little gadget:

JEEP Overland Jogging Stroller - $252.99 @ Sears Canada
With a reclining seat, a washable pad for all the puke it will sustain, a 5-point safety harness, an adjustable canopy with a window (so I can gaze at my little joy-bundle and remind myself why being a fit mom is important), an iPod sound system connector (so baby can learn early on that a Switchfoot song means it's time to move it), quick-response hand brake, and 16" all-terrain wheels, this puppy is exactly what I would need to get moving on the trails in our town. It also seems extremely functional for travel and regular errands, and stands upright once it's folded, which is helpful. You can click here for a full review.

So, now that we have a plan for a crib, a stage 1 and stage 2 car-seat, and a pram (for the newborn stages), I think it is safe to start saving up for this next big purchase this spring. Members of our family have offered to help chip-in (which I am ever grateful for) and, if/when this (or another) jogging stroller is in my hands and ready to use in the summer, I'll be quick to review!

  1. that's great Sam good for you!! I have made a similar vow to myself -- I'm going to be a WALKER - baby steps for me! I'm going with the Britax Be Agile -- and I'm hoping to go on daily walks with Baby Belle. Plus maybe breastfeeding will help us loose weight? I dunno -- but if it does I'm breastfeeding every hour..lol..joking....

  2. how about this- for every pound i lose i will sponsor $1 toward your dream stroller? That way we both get something out of me losing weight! LOL (btw from what I understand you lose about 2-3 regular pounds for every fat pound- so altogether they'd like me to lose about 50-60 pounds!)
