An Excellent Woman...

I've joined a small group in my town with a few other ladies and I'm loving it. We're only going into our third week, but every time I leave our breakfasts (twice.. I jump into things) I feel invigorated and excited! We're studying the book "Becoming A Woman of Excellence" by Cynthia Head which, I have to admit, I had a few reservations about before we started.

I was afraid I'd be opening my life to scary, terrifying, awful ideas along the lines of "how to become an excellent... cook for your husband" and "how to become an excellent...  child factory". But it's not like that. Not only is the book not like that,

God's call to women is not like that.

The book is leading us through a series of scripture verses which let us answer - on our own, through our own discussion and based on our own experiences - what it is to be "excellent", and why we should strive for that in the first place. The book is based on reminding us that the world's view of excellence - and often the Church's view of excellence - is not the same as God's... and that's refreshing.

As we're going through the text (which I would love to elaborate on but would just recommend you pick up a copy if this is sounding good to you), I feel excited and encouraged to create little reminders for my own home about the truths I'm reading. Thus... I have decided to make more posters - and make them available on my blog for you to enjoy (desktop background maybe?). I'm not committing to a certain quota each week - or committing to any more at all, we'll just see - but for now.. here is the poster for week 1, inspired by Proverbs 31:10, Ruth 3:11 and Proverbs 12:4.

You are welcome (encouraged) to cut off the watermark in Paint or something - right click to open in a new window :)

I just want to note: the beautiful (oh so beautiful!) image of the girl blowing the balloon bubbles is from the Papercutting blog "Scherenschnitte" and can be found here with instructions on how to papercut it.
