I'm sorry to do this. Very sorry. I know that it is SO not right to call out others for their choices, but I have one big HUGE pet peeve that I'd really like to lay out on the table at this moment:
blogmercialism: the art of using your blog to SELL STUFF.
Now, I have nothing against blogging (obviously), and I have nothing against selling stuff (my dream is to run a wildly successful Etsy shop... and a coffee shop), and I know that commercialism is the only way that this world really functions (sad but true).
But:
The moment you decide to write a blog about family and life and love and your experiences, whether or not you have stuff to sell shouldn't necessarily be the main focus of your blog. Unless your blog is only about your store, don't confuse us dedicated Google Readers with clever blog titles and leave us reading about why you're so graciously giving customers 20% off for the next three days.
Because quite frankly, one sweet, cute, obvious little advertisement on the side of your intentionally blog-er-ific blog will be enough for those of us who are interested.
That's my rant, that's all I have to say about that, and I will keep my mouth shut from now on.
OMGOSH YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS.
ReplyDeleteThank you for saying it. There are perfectly good blogs that are ruining themselves by doing this. I stopped following about 6 or 7 blogs the other day because of this very reason!!! grr!! haha I have been thinking of writing a similar blog to this one. Maybe I will just write a rant blog ranting about all the things I don't like about the world and this will be one of them. lol :p
I know what you mean. :)
ReplyDeleteIt's like people in the world are in this giant competition to become more known, popular, famous, and rich.
