why i am going to be a good mom (eventually)

this weekend I remembered that children are literally balls of energy.
in the span of just a few hours, my 10 year old cousin Hannah and I...

•  painted a craft
• watched a movie
• played a full game of Operation (a full game! this is impossible for even a group of 4 grown adults to do)
• Monopoly (buying hotels by the time she got bored - by that i mean it was a very long game)
• 3d Snakes and Ladders (10 times)
• Wii... to stop her laughing fits
• baked a cake - she wasn't allowed to eat it until morning for obvious reasons! I gave her a TINY piece and she shoved it in her mouth and wanted to see how much she could ooze out and eat again. Classy!
• learned to play the Recorder (apparently I'm a pro)
• ate pizza
• sang at the top of our lungs to practically every Elton John song - Elton John seems to be a family tradition
• and talked about "how cool it would be if..."
  
  and this was all after a day of 
• running around and playing soccer, 
• basketball, 
• relay races, 
• wall climbing, 
• and brushing and riding a horse (thanks Liesl, Ange and Laura!)

so THIS is why they send kids to school.
