Their Leaves Stay Green

This is a BUSY season of life right now. The last week and a half has only seen us home for 1.5 days. I forget what normal feels like! I'm not exhausted, but I'm dizzy with busy-ness and thought I'd take some time this morning to refresh myself in the Word. I'm so thankful for She Reads Truth because it brings me so much closer to God and leads me as I do it. For Day 2 of their 5 day study, the passage studied was Jeremiah 17:5-10.

And the Word was so beautiful that I had to share it with you.

"But blessed are those who trust in the Lord and have made the Lord their hope and confidence.
They are like trees planted along a river bank, with roots that reach deep into the water. Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of drought. Their leaves stay green and they never stop producing fruit". Jeremiah 17:7-8

No matter the season you're in, staying rooted in God's love produces a lush life.

I've been through long months of drought, through not producing or not achieving what I'd like to see achieved. I've been through heat. Actually, right now I feel like I'm coming out of a season of drought, thank God. I'm sure you have experienced times like this, too. And I know that it's only God's love that has sustained me through these seasons of scorching.

That God is the only one whose roots can run deep enough in me to still fill me with refreshment despite drought.

  1. A friend of ours made a small piece of art for us when we got married that featured that verse - she felt it was God's word for us over our marriage. So that's always a special passage for me :)
