Just kicking around the cobble stones

Today was great. We started out with the delicious hotel buffet breakfast, a wonderful part of our stay package. Lots of fruit and delicious potatoes, mmmm. Then we made our way to Pier 81 and took a 3 hour cruise around the island. Generally it was awesome - maybe 2 hours longer than necessary ( I ended up falling asleep) but we got an amazing view of the Statue of Liberty as well as the Brooklyn Bridge, Wall Street, and, of course the 59th St Bridge. Which has naturally got me singing about how groovy life is. Like I said, it was a little lengthy but really fun.

Today we also made our way to the King Tut exhibition which was extremely interesting. John's brother saw it and recommended it - I'm glad we went, it was the last day of the exhibit and apparently it's being locked away in Egypt "forever" (after 6 months at The Met). There were tons of cool artifacts but no King Tut! I wonder if Dave saw the real thing when he went? Well, it was still pretty great.

We took another stroll through Times Square for what must be the tenth time, we just love that place. I think a music video of some tween pop group was being filmed, and the place was pretty busy. We explored the massive Toys R Us (note: childhood heaven) and Disney store - now all we have to do is FAO Schwartz!

We're really trying to hold back on any unnecessary spending (what's new, we're bargain ninjas) so we've been getting a little creative with food: free buffet breakfast, snack for lunch and shared meal for dinner. Today we found a divey but delicious Indian restaurant and shared a plate of curry which was super filling.. Then, in major need of a break from walking, we rested and watched TLC for a while (Sarah Palins Alaska = awful AND amusing) and resumed our adventure to the 86th floor of the Empire State Building.

86 floors high is beautiful at 9.30 at night, especially with all the amazing lights. I'm pretty terrified of heights but John loved every second and took some wonderful photos on my behalf. It thankfully wasn't crowded at all but the wind was intense!

Now it's pretty late and we're just relaxing, reading and watching TV.
My legs are feeling all the walking and J's shoe literally broke.
Tomorrow we've planned 2 museums and a tour - hopefully we can squeeze it in!
