catching/up/up/up

I'm sitting on the shelf of a chair in a new coffee shop, avoiding educating my brain about women's rights issues in 1920's Socialist Canada. It's working, but I could break it all down into three words: Canadian-sustained.domestic.slavery

Now for a short catchup on my life:

This past summer was a challenge; 13 hour days behind swinging kitchen doors, sweating & praying, hoping that knives wouldn't swing, salmonella wouldn't pop it's nasty little head & that the next day's food was prepared. I worked alongside some extremely interesting people. I can't begin to write about my experiences with them for lack of a desire to put myself back into my mental state of June/July/August 2010.

It was a summer of learning, of teaching.

things i learned.

1. communication is best achieved when using a common language, like english.
2. for health and safety reasons: when someone falls asleep during devotions, don't assume they're bored. assume they have narcolepsy.
3. how to phonetically spell "baked ziti".

4. the best kind of bowels are cereal ones.

things i taught.
1. once you pour juice down the sink, nobody can drink it.
2. mopping floors cleans up dirt so quickly it's like magic. except, it's not magic. it's mopping.
3. if you don't clean food out of a sink, food won't get cleaned out of the sink.
4. if you must wake up anywhere, let it be vegis. (should read "veggies")

5. less than 3 tbsp of sugar will suffice in a half cup bowl of oatmeal. more will cause puking.
6. no matter what shape you meld cheese into, it will still taste the same.
7. "i'm not sure if this is common knowledge, but granola tastes bad on oatmeal."

school's back in, i'm ready to get out.
and i'm in the year o'four. out of a desperate fear that i will graduate, begin a business to find that i either a) hate it! or b) love it so much i should've started earlier - i just started one now. it's called BLÜM events. and i actually have events :)

held a coffee house the other night at this fantastic little coffee shop down the street and through it massively celebrated friendship & art. music and paintings will bring people together in incredible ways.

mawwaige.
it only gets better, is all i can really say. our first year was wonderful :)

toronto.
we moved downtown, right in the smack dab middle of downtown between the artsies & the homelessies. we love it. it's quite a commute to get to school, but, i don't mind. hopefully it means getting john some valuable connections.

persia.
we got a beautiful, sweet, hilarious cat named Persia from our friends Mark, Jocelyn & their babygirl Madeline. Persia needed a little extra lovin' which is tough to do with a newborn, so we took on the challenge. and it's really no challenge. we just love her. if you're any animaniacs buff, persia = buttons and i = mindy.

"and the people bowed,
and prayed.
oh, i love you a lot.
i love you from the top of my heart."
